Breaking news from Book Expo: Selzer wins another award!

Seems like only yesterday we were announcing that Richard Selzer's Knife Song Korea won an Independent Publisher Book Award (in fact, it was just last week). Just moments ago, we received word from our people at Book Expo that it's also been awarded the 2009 Editor's Choice Award for Fiction by Foreword Magazine! Congratulations are once again in order for Richard.

Selzer Novel Wins Award

The 2010 Independent Publisher Book Awards were recently awarded, and Knife Song Korea has tied for silver in the category of Literary Fiction. Congratulations to author Richard Selzer and to all of the other award winners!

Go, Tell Michelle is an Award Winner

Go, Tell Michelle: African American Women Write to the New First Lady was recently awarded the 2009 Letitia Woods Brown Memorial Book Award, in the category of edited volume, presented by the Association of Black Women Historians (ABWH).

Coeditors Barbara A. Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram will accept the award at the ABWH luncheon on October 3rd in Cincinnati, where they will also be the keynote speakers.

Congratulations are in order for Damon Cann! His book, Sharing the Wealth, has won the 2009 Richard F. Fenno Jr. Prize of the Legislative Studies Section of the American Political Science Association.

Book of the Year Award Winner

Earlier this week at the Conference of College Composition and Communication in San Franciso, Mary Sheridan-Rabideau's book Girls, Feminism, and Grassroots Literacies won the Book of the Year Award from Steve Park's Reflections: A Journal of Writing, Service-Learning, and Community Literacy. The book won acclaim for its work on civic engagement.

2008 ForeWord Book of the Year Finalists

Two SUNY Press books are finalists for the 2008 ForeWord Book of the Year Awards.

William Cullen Bryant, by Gilbert H. Muller, is a finalist in the biography category, while Twenty West, by Mac Nelson, made the cut in the travel category.

The winners will be announced at Book Expo in New York City on May 29. Congratulations to our authors on this exciting news!
